INTERNAÇÕES HOSPITALARES PELO USO DE SUBSTÂNCIAS PSICOATIVAS EM MULHERES NA REGIÃO NORDESTE NO PERÍODO DE 2008 A 2018
ESTUDO EPIDEMIOLÓGICO
Abstract
Introduction: Psychoactive substances (SPA) is a contemporary term to define compounds that
alter the function of the nervous system through the release of dopamine, causing chemical dependence.
Objective: To identify the epidemiological profile of women users of psychoactive substances in the
Northeast region between 2008 and 2018. Methodology: Epidemiological study with data from the SUS
Hospital Information System (SIH/SUS). Data regarding hospitalizations, mortality rates and number of
deaths in women during the 2008-2018 period were included following the ICD-10 Morbidity List. The
analysis and data processing were made from electronic spreadsheets. Results and discussion: Hospital
admissions in women users of SPA were registered (n=11,244). A total of 120 deaths in female SPA users
were registered. The mortality rate was 1.10. Conclusion: The profile of female SPA users in the Northeast
was of black and brown women as adults.
