Abstract

Obstetric violence constitutes a failure to respect the parturient's rights, converging between dehumanized practices of assistance to gender violence, that is, the denial of fundamental rights of women. The research proposed here, then, is a descriptive study that uses bibliographic research articulated to documental as a methodological resource. Therefore, it was concluded that obstetric violence can reflect inequities in childbirth and birth care, demonstrating the influence of culture and the perception of childbirth by society
