Introduction: The Unified Health System (Sistema Único de Saúde, in Portuguese) is a public system that has made great progress over the years in the expansion and strengthening of Primary Health Care, through the implementation of services, the work of health teams, and the expansion of Health Care Networks. Objective: The study sought to identify the factors affecting dental care for patients in psychological distress in the different health services of the Health Care Network of a large capital city in northeastern Brazil. Methods: The methodological approach used Convergent Care Research, with data collected through participant observation and a convergence group. Results: From the analysis of the reports of the professionals who make up the Health Care Network, it was possible to identify the factors that hinder comprehensive oral health care for patients in psychological distress. They are related to the articulation of healthcare network services, as well as to factors associated with oral and mental health. Conclusions: It was observed that the factors addressed by the professionals demonstrated that there was little connection among the healthcare networks, as each network carried out its operations and services independently, without a clear understanding of the potentialities and difficulties. This text is the result of the Professional Master‘s Degree in Family Health (PROFSAÚDE).
