Abstract

Through the images, from a biographical approach, we insert, in the narrative, aspects of the artisanal arts, especially of the circulation stage (central among the other stages: production and reception/consumption): the essay emphatically addresses the circulation phase of the social life of this straw craft found in São Joaquim. Straw is a type of material of notable expression in the most varied spaces of Feira de São Joaquim, in Bahia. It is a constituent part of an infinity of objects with the most diverse purposes of use: different types of straw make up countless products for sale or in use. The social life of straw artifacts at Feira de São Joaquim, Bahia, is the main focus of this work. Photographs also constitute the corpus of the research, more than a merely methodological tool, they help to situate the micro and macro analyses, in the narrative, the researcher and the reader, the things, the camera and the research, in addition to the images.
