To oral language, to written language and to the digital world: transition and relationship with knowledge

The focus of this essay and the thesis it presents are the crisis conditions generated by technologies related to reading and writing and their relationship with knowledge, announced by three intellectuals and thinkers: Rodolfo Llinás from the neuroscience field and Antoni Brey from the telecommunications engineering field; and Raffaele Simone from the linguistic field. Language not only determines modes of expression but also thought processes. Computational information technologies emerged strongly in the middle of the last century in three areas: language, calculation, and image processing and manipulation. The use of new computational information technologies, like all technology, goes beyond mere support: they impact the production, preservation, and circulation of knowledge, which is the aspect we wish to address, especially in relation to the fundamental pillar of language.
