This study presents a descriptive approach on emerging technologies that are enabling the construction of new digital environments of interactions of individuals, making research based on digital sociology necessary. First, it addresses how digital platforms have become part of the routine of individuals, especially social networks, enabling current life in a platform society. The metaverse as an extension of this environment is presented through concepts and definitions still under construction by the academic, but which brings potential for the migration of individuals to decentralized environments and platforms. It is concluded that it is essential to monitor this phenomenon called metaverse in the field of social sciences. Social investigations in this environment can contribute to understanding the impact on behavior in an increasingly figital world of the human being in society.
