Soumissions

1. A LATITUDE é um periódico eletrônico que aceita para avaliação artigos inéditos em Ciências Sociais, que não estejam sendo apresentados simultaneamente em outro periódico. Também são aceitas resenhas de livros recentes (até dois anos antes), entrevistas com pesquisadores com serviços prestados à área, traduções de artigos de pesquisadores estrangeiros, de acordo com a avaliação do comitê editorial. 

1. Our magazine accepts the submission of original articles in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French, covering a wide range of theoretical, methodological and thematic approaches in the Social Sciences. We welcome articles written by PhDs and reviews by graduate students (master's and doctoral students) that are pertinent to the field, as well as interviews with researchers in the area that have national and/or international prominence, as well as translations of articles by foreign researchers. For the submission of articles, it´s necessary that the main author holds the title of doctor. 

2. As áreas de concentração da revista são a Antropologia e a Sociologia. Entretanto, mantemos a ambição de dialogar com todas as áreas das Ciências Sociais e Humanas, especialmente com as disciplinas da Ciência Política, Psicologia, Administração Pública, Direito, Economia, Educação, História, Planejamento Urbano e Regional, Relações Internacionais e especialidades hoje reconhecidas como interdisciplinares. Estimulamos e somos altamente receptivos ao recebimento de trabalhos de jovens investigadores.

2. The magazine's area of concentration is SOCIOLOGY. However, we maintain the ambition to dialogue with all areas of the Social Sciences, especially with the disciplines of Anthropology, Political Science, Economics, Education, History, Urban and Regional Planning, International Relations and other specialties now recognized as interdisciplinary. We encourage and are highly receptive to receiving papers from young researchers/doctors.

3. A publicação de artigos está condicionada à avaliação em um sistema de dupla etapa. Na primeira, o artigo será apreciado pela comissão editorial avaliando a pertinência do artigo às normas editoriais e às áreas científicas de abrangência da LATITUDE. Dessa avaliação, poderá haver três tipos de decisão: a rejeição; a possibilidade de reapresentação, com indicações de mudanças; e a indicação de dois pareceristas ad hoc, seguindo para a segunda etapa. Nesta, o artigo será apreciado por dois pareceristas anônimos e as decisões possíveis são: a) aprovação sem mudanças ou condicionada ao atendimento de alterações indicadas, b) necessidade de reapresentação do artigo com alterações substanciais e c) negação de publicação.

3. The publication of articles is conditioned to the evaluation in a two-step system. In the first, the article will be evaluated by the editorial committee, evaluating the relevance of the article to the editorial standards and scientific areas covered by LATITUDE. From this evaluation, there may be three types of decision: a) rejection; b) the possibility of representation, with indications of changes; and c) proceeding to the second stage, the submission will be evaluated by two  anonymous reviewers and the possible decisions are: a) approval without changes or conditioned to the fulfillment of indicated changes; b) the need to resubmit the article with substantial changes; and c) denial of publication.

4.Os itens levados em conta na avaliação são: originalidade no tratamento do tema, coerência tanto na explicitação quanto na condução da abordagem e da metodologia, incluindo aí o rigor científico da área, sua relevância para as Ciências Sociais e o campo de problemas de interesse da revista. Os nomes dos pareceristas serão mantidos secretos para o autor e vice versa, o nome do autor será desconhecido pelos pareceristas. Em caso de divergência entre os dois avaliadores, será convidado um terceiro, para decidir pela aprovação ou rejeição do texto.

4. The items taken into account in the evaluation are: Originality in the treatment of the theme, coherence both in the explanation and in the conduct of the approach and methodology, including the scientific rigor of the area, its relevance to the Social Sciences and the field of problems of interest of the magazine.

5. Em caso de artigo de autoria coletiva, o texto deverá ser submetido pelo primeiro autor (ou autor de contato). A revista não aceita artigos com mais de três autores, a não ser em casos excepcionais que devem ser sempre justificados previamente à Comissão Editorial. O(a) primeiro(a) autor(a) deve ter titulação de doutor(a).

5.  In the case of articles of collective authorship, the text must be submitted by the first author, who must have a PhD degree. The magazine does not accept articles with more than three authors, unless there is exceptional justification presented to the Editorial Board and accepted by it. The first author must have a PhD degree.

6. A LATITUDE aceita a proposta de dossiês temáticos, com organizadores, mas todos os textos submetidos ao número estão sujeitos ao mesmo processo de avaliação de duas etapas e do duplo cego.

6. LATITUDE accepts the proposal of thematic dossiers, with organizers, but all texts submitted to the issue are subject to the same two-stage evaluation process and double-blind.

7. O tempo aproximado para uma decisão final é de 2 mês no caso de artigos que sejam rejeitados na primeira etapa e de 4 meses no caso dos artigos enviados para pareceristas ad hoc. Este tempo médio é calculado a partir das datas de submissão e de decisão final quanto à publicação.

7. The approximate time for a final decision is 2 months in the case of articles that are rejected in the first stage, and 6 months in the case of articles sent to ad hoc reviewers. This average time is calculated from the dates of submission and final decision on publication.

8. O envio de artigos e a posterior aceitação para publicação implica, automaticamente, a cessão dos direitos da primeira publicação para a Revista. Os direitos autorais permanecem com o autor.

8. The submission of articles and the subsequent acceptance for publication automatically implies the assignment of the rights of the first publication to the magazine. The copyright remains with the author.

9. LATITUDE segue princípios de práticas éticas de edição de revistas científicas tais como os contidos nos Códigos de Ética do Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) (http://www.publicationethics.org/), e nas diretrizes indicadas pelo Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (http://www.cnpq.br/web/guest/diretrizes).

9. LATITUDE follows principles of ethical practices for editing scientific magazines, such as those contained in the Codes of Ethics from Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) (http://www.publicationethics.org/), and in the guidelines indicated by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico) (http://www.cnpq.br/web/guest/diretrizes).

10. A LATITUDE não cobra taxas para submissão ou processamento dos artigos.

10. LATITUDE does not charge fees for submission or processing of articles, reviews, translations and interviews.

1. Os artigos são publicados em português, espanhol, inglês e francês. Artigos vêm acompanhados de um resumo de até 200 palavras em português e inglês, no qual são sintetizados problemas, metodologias, abordagens e materiais empíricos, e uma lista de 3 a 5 palavras-chave, separadas por ponto e vírgula. Os artigos devem ter entre 15 a 25 páginas, incluindo elementos pós-textuais; resenhas devem ter até 12 páginas, também incluindo elementos pós-textuais.

1. Articles are published in Portuguese and may be translated into English. Each article is accompanied by an abstract of up to 180 words in Portuguese and English, in which the problems, methodologies, approaches, empirical materials and main results are summarized, as well as a list of 3 to 5 keywords, separated by semicolons. Os textos devem ser enviados em Microsoft Word, OpenOffice ou RTF, sem o uso de recursos mais especializados de formatação, exclusivamente através da página da revista (http://www.seer.ufal.br/index.php/latitude/about/submissions). Para envio e acompanhamento do texto é necessário cadastrar-se na área de acesso. O e-mail da revista será utilizado apenas para dúvidas e comunicações específicas que não puderem ser feitas pela plataforma SEER.

2. The texts must be sent in Microsoft Word, without the use of more specialized formatting resources, exclusively through the magazine page (http://www.seer.ufal.br/index.php/latitude/about/submissions). To send and follow up the text it´s necessary to register in the access area. The email of the magazine will be used only for questions and specific communications that cannot be made by the SEER platform.

4. Para tornar possível uma melhor divulgação dos artigos nos bancos de dados de indexadores, os autores deverão se cadastrar na página da revista, fornecer informações, as mais completas possíveis relativas a sua formação acadêmica, instituição e campo de investigação, com endereço eletrônico.

4. To make possible a better dissemination of articles in the databases of indexers, authors should register on the magazine page, provide information, as complete as possible regarding their academic background, institution and field of investigation, with electronic address.

5. Destaques no interior do texto devem ocorrer com o uso de aspas. As palavras estrangeiras devem estar em itálico. As notas, quando indispensáveis, são de rodapé, substantivas, numeradas sequencialmente e sem formatação específica.

5. Highlights within the text should occur with the use of quotation marks. Foreign words should be italicized. The notes, when indispensable, are footer, substantive, numbered sequentially and without specific formatting.

6. Os gráficos e tabelas devem ser inseridos no texto, com indicação das unidades em que se expressam os valores e as fontes correspondentes. Imagens em alta definição não devem ser incluídas dentro do documento principal, podendo ser anexadas separadamente (em formato jpg, pdf ou tiff) em resolução de ao menos 300 DPIs; não podem ultrapassar as dimensões da página da revista (19,5 x 13,0 cm).

6. Graphs and tables must be inserted in the text, indicating the units in which the values are expressed and the corresponding sources. High definition images must not be included within the main document, and cannot exceed the dimensions of the magazine page (19.5 x 13.0 cm).

7. As notas de referências são inseridas no texto, seguindo o seguinte padrão: (AUTOR, ano, p. xx) ou (AUTOR1; AUTOR2, ano, xx). Havendo mais de uma obra do mesmo autor num mesmo ano, este vem acompanhado de uma letra sequencial do alfabeto. Exemplo: (AUTOR, 1998a; 1998b).

7. Reference notes are inserted in the text, according to the following pattern: (Author, year, p. xx) or (Author 1; Author 2, year, xx). If there is more than one work by the same author in the same year, this one is accompanied by a sequential letter of the alphabet. Example: (Author, 1998a; 1998b).

8. As referências são apresentadas no final do trabalho, listadas em ordem alfabética e sem numeração, segundo a norma NBR 6023. Autores que aparecem com mais de uma obra devem estar listado em ordem cronológica, iniciando da publicação mais antiga.

d) publicações eletrônicas: seguem o padrão acima, segundo seu gênero, acrescido do DOI ou de endereço completo e data do acesso.

8. The references are presented at the end of the work, listed in alphabetical order and without numbering, according to the NBR 6023 standard. Authors who appear with more than one work should be listed in chronological order, starting from the earliest publication.
