Introduction: Despite the undeniable benefits of immunization for children's health, some parents or guardians are skeptical about vaccination practices. Objective: To describe how parents perceive the vaccination of children and what measures are implemented as part of the Family Health Strategy (FHS). Methods: This is a cross-sectional study of 335 parents or guardians of children under two years of age registered with the FHS in the municipality of Sorriso, Mato Grosso (MT). Data were collected using a structured questionnaire. Results: The majority of respondents considered vaccines safe (82.7%) and important (94.3%). The most frequently mentioned cited sources of information were healthcare professionals (88.6%) and the internet (38.5%). The main measures to encourage vaccination most frequently recalled by respondents were guidance from Community Health Agents (CHAs) (75.2%) and Saturday vaccination campaigns (71.9%). Conclusions: The sample revealed that parents consider vaccines to be important and safe, and that the FHS team professionals contribute to immunization education. The results indicate the importance of conducting immunization campaigns and it is essential to expand strategies to promote compliance with childhood vaccination.
