Abstract

Introduction: Integrative Community Therapy is based on culture, experiences and local knowledge to work, through group meetings, to promote care. It has been used in the university environment, with the aim of promoting listening, communication and interaction. Objective: to describe the experience of holding an Integrative Community Therapy circle at a university in Recôncavo Bahia. Method: this is a descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, of the experience report type. A circle, lasting two hours, took place in July 2023 at a university event. 27 students participated, two teachers, one a therapist and one guest who is also a community therapist. The meeting was divided into two moments: firstly, two students discussed the topic of mental health at the university and explained the foundations of Integrative Community Therapy, afterwards, the circle was held. Results: participants addressed topics that dealt with stress, anguish, anxiety and family conflicts, as well as bringing strategies to face these situations. Final considerations: at the end of the circle, some statements indicated that integrative community therapy promoted a moment of reflection and discussion about mental health in the university context, proving to be an effective practice for promoting listening and acceptance at the University.
