Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Guidelines for Authors

The Political Economy of Development Magazine receives original and unpublished papers and Book reviews in a continuous stream in Portuguese, Spanish and English. We do not charge any fees for either submission or publication.

All manuscripts submitted to the journal must be within the editorial guidelines (see About the Journal), having a preliminary evaluation by the Editorial Committee, which will verify if it follows the journal's guidelines and fits into its focus and scope. In this phase, the editors will also verify if the authors followed the ethical and good practices norms, in order to avoid plagiarism or self-plagiarism. Afterwards, the manuscripts will be submitted for consideration by the Editorial Board's reviewers or by experts chosen ad-hoc. Texts can be approved, approved with mandatory changes or rejected.

Entries must not be identified to guarantee a blind evaluation. In other words, it must not contain the authors' names or any reference that could identify the authorship.

Submitted texts must follow the following format:

 The articles:

1) They must be typed in the Microsoft Word processor, with 1.5 spacing between lines, font Time New Roman size 12, justified paragraphs, without spacing between paragraphs, with margins of 3 cm (left and right) and 2.5 (top and bottom).

2) It must be preceded by a title, abstract (maximum of 10 lines, in a single paragraph) and keywords (minimum of 3 and maximum of 5) in Portuguese and English (abstract). For titles, abstracts and keywords in a foreign language, do not use automatic translator (under penalty of rejection of the submission) and, if possible, undergo a review by a specialized professional.

3) The title (in the three languages) must be typed in capital letters, in font Time New Roman size 12, without the identification of the author(s) – this information will only be inserted when the article is accepted and ready for publication. The abstract and keywords must be typed in the same font in size 11.

4) Subtitles must not be numbered and must be typed in capital letters and bold, aligned to the left.

5) All images, graphs, tables, charts, charts or maps must be inserted in the body of the text. Title centered and above the item (size 12), font and author centered and below the item, in Time New Roman font, size 10.

6) All notes must be inserted in the footer, in Time New Roman font, size 10.

7) The minimum length must be 15 pages and a maximum of 25 pages in A4 size, including the abstract (in both languages), in addition to the bibliographical references at the end.

8) All bibliographic references must follow the ABNT standards.

 The Book reviews:

1) They must follow the same formatting of the paper, with the title of the review being the title of the reviewed work (in the original language of the publication), whose bibliographic information must appear at the end of the text, in the form of a reference.

2) It is not necessary to contain an abstract and/or keywords.
