"We have a Dream": how to translate totemic existential territories through digital tools

Resumo

Na sessão plenária de encerramento do Simpósio de Tecnologias de Informação e Comunidades Indígenas (ITIC) de 2010 em Canberra, os delegados  decidiram escrever uma série de recomendações para melhorar o acesso da comunidade indígena às tecnologias digitais. Um jovem cineasta Martu, Curtis Taylor, de Parnngurr (Cotton Creek), aproximou-se do microfone e disse: “Temos um sonho como os mais velhos: na mente; tecnologias digitais”. Este capítulo mostra algumas analogias entre o mapeamento cognitivo dos sonhos do deserto, a estrutura rizomática da web e os contextos culturais e políticos do uso de tecnologias digitais. Estes são discutidos a partir de exemplos de filmes produzidos e divulgados por indígenas australianos de forma a enfatizar suas mensagens no YouTube e sites similares criados a partir de meados dos anos 2000. Também são discutidas questões técnicas e antropológicas relacionadas ao projeto de expandir, para um site piloto, um CD-ROM que desenvolvido na década de 1990 com 50 artistas Warlpiri de Lajamanu. A questão aqui é analisar, em meio à indiferença e hostilidade do espaço público manifestados por políticos, mídia e alguns discursos acadêmicos, as formas como grupos humanos marginalizados, como os povos originários em várias partes do mundo, enunciam e constroem sua singularidade subjetiva e territórios existenciais no processo de transformação e mobilidade social. Nesse sentido, a web hoje é uma plataforma para aprimorar as expressões locais de agência e a política de reivindicações culturais projetadas como novos sistemas de conhecimento e inteligência coletiva para o futuro. Tal desenvolvimento, de fato, desafia as responsabilidades dos antropólogos.
