CONTRIBUIÇÕES DA EDUCAÇÃO EM SAÚDE PARA SAÚDE DA MULHER QUILOMBOLA

Abstract

The objective of this work is to report on health education actions developed by university students in a quilombola community in the agreste region of Alagoas. This is a descriptive study, based on the experience of health education actions carried out in a quilombola community by the Extension Project "RIGHT TO HEALTH, SUS, and the health of the black population: Strengthening popular participation in Health". Using an active teaching methodology, health education was developed focusing on women's health, with an emphasis on promoting breast self-examination and preventive cytological examination, contributing to the early detection of neoplasms and preventing their worsening. The quilombola descendants were receptive to the students, indicating the lack of attention from health professionals due to the absence of a Basic Health Unit within the community. The action contributed to the promotion of health knowledge, collaborating with the early diagnosis of neoplasms.
