A BRINQUEDOTERAPIA NA ONCOLOGIA PEDIÁTRICA: UM RELATO DE EXPERIÊNCIA
PLAY THERAPY IN PEDIATRIC ONCOLOGY: AN EXPERIENCE REPORT

The present work discusses an extension action carried out by the Pediatric Oncology Academic League (LAOnP) at the Casa da Criança of Veredas Hospital, where periodic visits were made to pediatric oncology patients. The main objective was to promote interactions and recreational activities for children and their families, offering support through play therapy and group discussions. The practice of play is seen as an indispensable therapeutic alternative in the treatment of pediatric patients. In this sense, through playful activities, a decrease in stress and anxiety caused by hospitalization was observed, as well as the strengthening of bonds through moments of connection between children and parents. Therefore, these interventions represented a significant professional enrichment for the league members, providing valuable practical experience in pediatric oncology, resulting in the improvement of understanding and sensitivity in care aspects.
