Old age is a phase of human development marked by important biopsychosocial changes that imply gains and challenges for the elderly person. Loneliness and depression are processes present in this phase that intensified with the period of isolation in the COVID-19 pandemic, reverberating the need for actions that promote health for the elderly. With this in mind, this paper aimed to report an experience of psychoeducational intervention based on Emotional Schema Therapy (EST) with a group of elderly in CRAS/Paraíso in the municipality of Santa Cruz in Rio Grande do Norte. The intervention was directed to 21 elderly people between 65 and 90 years old and included two meetings, with themes related to emotional aspects and maladaptive and adaptive strategies of emotional regulation. From the meetings, it was observed that the participants showed low awareness about their emotional experience. Good results were observed in relation to the bond with the elderly, for, besides psychoeducation, relaxation moments were offered, with dances and conversations, providing shelter to their demands and resulting in positive feedbacks. Thus, it is pointed out that group EST is a strong tool that can be used to meet the needs of the elderly.
