Abstract

The Círio of Nazaré, as the largest procession in Latin America that brings together millions of devotees to pay homage to Nossa Senhora de Nazaré, symbolizes a milestone in Pará culture also on account of the revival of the city's ambiance, as collective faith visibly overflows in the ornamentation of houses and buildings in the Neighborhood of Nazaré in the October period with homage to the Virgin. In this sense, this article seeks to make sense of how the Círio was experienced in the pandemic period of 2020, explaining which alternatives were listed so that the tradition of the "Christmas of the Pará" could continue, albeit with restrictive measures of detachment, adopting the ethnographic method as a form of meaning the city and the street where the religious festival takes place as a participative entity that reinforces its sense of being and the collective identity of the community that invigorates it, recalling that the Círio is a festival of the people.
