Introduction: Telehealth is the provision of services by healthcare professionals using Information and Communication Technologies, where the distance between the user and the doctor is a critical factor. Objective: To describe the perceptions of users receiving care via telemehealth from a Rural Health Unit, as well as to identify suggestions, criticisms and expectations. Methodology: This is a descriptive qualitative study conducted using audio and/or video recordings of interviews that were fully transcribed, read, re-read and reviewed according to Laurence Bardin's content analysis. Fifteen individuals aged 28 to 65 years who received telehealth care from a rural health facility were interviewed. Results and discussion: Users particularly emphasized the usefulness of telehealth in facilitating people's access to the Rural Health Unit. Conclusion: The pandemic has boosted the telehealth service; the demands were multiple (prescriptions, counseling, requesting and/or reviewing tests); there was an opening for the dissemination of more reliable information. Thus, it is understood that those responsible in the different areas must pay attention to this modality by providing the necessary means for its use and allowing greater participation of the population with a view to the collective construction of the Unified Health System. From the beginning of the study until today, telehealth has been used in this Rural Health Unit, taking into account the suggestions of the users. This text is the result of the stricto sensu postgraduate program Professional Master's Degree in Family Health (PROFSAÚDE).
