Abstract

Introduction: Monitoring constitutes a relevant tool for the Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais of the Undergraduate Medical Course, as it strengthens the connection between theory and the skills necessary for future doctors to meet the population's demands. It is worth noting that the monitor's role in transmitting content to students arouses interest in teaching, as well as promoting academic cooperation between monitors and professors and improving the quality of education.  Objective: The purpose of this descriptive study, of the experience report type, is to share the experiences of the monitors participating in the Nephrology Discipline monitoring project, highlighting the activities carried out, materials produced, and reflections on health education processes and medical training. Methods:Among the methodological strategies adopted are content review sessions, problem-solving, the creation of flashcards, and the administration of mock exams. The monitors also remained available through online messaging platforms to address student demands. Results: The methodologies used assisted students in consolidating the content and promoted collaboration between monitors and professors. Conclusions: The experience in monitoring encouraged monitors' initiation into teaching, in addition to aiding in the education of generalist physicians and fostering academic cooperation between monitors and professors.
