Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a progressive and insidious condition that has become a global epidemic. Primary care plays a fundamental role in CKD management, but many family physicians are unaware of or do not implement the necessary measures. Objective: To describe the experience of conducting a symposium on renal disease care, aimed at healthcare professionals in Primary Health Care. Methods: Descriptive study, in the form of an experience report. The event was organized by nephrologists and medical students. Questionnaires were used to assess the impact of the symposium on participants' knowledge. Results: The symposium took place in March 2021, with the participation of 241 registered attendees, predominantly physicians. The presentations covered various topics related to renal diseases and healthcare management. A pre- and post-event questionnaire revealed a significant increase in participants' ability to deal with these conditions. The symposium allowed for the enhancement of knowledge and skills, promoting integration among professionals at different levels of care. It also provided valuable learning experiences for the students involved in the organization. Conclusions: The symposium proved to be an important strategy for improving kidney disease care and was an enriching experience for the participating students.
