The report presents an exposition of the creation process for an electronic journal named Revista Areia, from PET Letras, an academic group from the Federal University of Alagoas. It discusses both the necessity to stimulate academic production at the undergraduate level, as well as and the creation of a publication channel for undergraduate students in the Brazilian university scenario. Thereafter, the paper shows the struggles to assemble the journal's editorial process, the completion of the first issue, and the expectation of expanding the journal. The reported experiences were retrieved through the records of the agendas of the meetings in personal notes and e-mail exchanges, and the mentioned data were collected in academic articles, essays, and media channels reports. The objective of the report is both to record and demonstrate the path of undergraduate scholarship students in assembling a national scientific journal, providing the sharing of this lived experience.
