Abstract

the present paper has the objective of analyzing, from a semiological perspective expressed by French theoretician Anne Ubersfeld (2005) and by Jacó Guinsburg (1988), the set of signs that constitute spatiality in the works O grande amor de nossas vidas (1981), by Consuelo de Castro, and Os sete gatinhos (2017), by Nelson Rodrigues. The space delimited by four walls is one of the similarities in the texts of playwrights Castro and Rodrigues, therefore, the emphasis on private space in this study is justified. Thus, from the semiolexical precepts, inside the house, the scenic places of the works in which there is a manifestation of oppression expressed in the character of the father in both analyzed. From the family’s domestic place, social and economic conflicts stand out, discussed in a perspective of Brazilian theatrical criticism, from names such as Sábato Magaldi (1992), Yan Michalski (1989) and Jefferson Del Rios (2010).
