The object of the present paper is the official presidential discourse of the thirty-eighth president of Brazil. Therefore, it aims to understand how the relationship of the presidential political discourse with the religious discourse is constituted. This analysis is based on materialist Discourse Analysis, as postulated by Michel Pêcheux and continued by Eni Orlandi. In this direction, the gesture of analysis reveal the imbrication of a series of biblical enunciations in political discourse. This discoursive mecanism demands criticize the notion of religious discourse which leads to propose the denomination biblical discourse. This proposal is supported by the observation that the statements that appear come from a specific material base, the Holy Bible, and a particular discursive formation, here identified as neo-Pentecostal. Therefore, it is concluded that the crossing of the biblical discourse in the political discourse works in favor of a certain project of power.
