The present text deals with the relationship between women and work through the analysis of two images of women in informal work: an image referring to the 2020 election period and another referring to the 2022 electoral campaign, both in Brazil. Based on the Materialist Discourse Analysis, we will study the precarious work performed by women through a discursive approach by analyzing these two images. This will be articulated to the way in which knowledge about women is naturalized in our Brazilian social formation, considered capitalist, patriarchal, and racist. The effect of evidence produced by the images needs to be tensioned, considering that the bodies that carry the flags of the candidates for the elections are the bodies of black women. With the study, we deal with the way in which racism and sexism are allied to the State in the way words gain meaning.
