Abstract

This work aism to analyze two moments in the dystopia written by Philip K Dick. We focused on two short stories from the post-World War II: Foster, you're dead and The hanging stranger, both from the beggining of the 1950s. With Foster, it was sought to show how the desire is built and manipulated by agents of a society rearranged around a pretended idea of peace. In The hanging, the alien invasion and the body replacement are used to question the values in force at the time. For the analysis, we used the studies by Goffman (2002, 1967), Booker (2001) and Roberts (2016).
