We take the issue of teaching reading and writing and propose to think of the discursive process as a mediator of this work, introducing the notion of versions, rewriting and attention. Thus, we seek to move from the reduction of language teaching as a communicative and interactional process to propose other ways of working with language at school. These modes are sustained in the affirmation of language in its materiality as an “imperfect tool”.
