This paper presents an analysis of texts from the Inumeráveis memorial project, which honors the fatal victims of the Covid-19 pandemic in Brazil. For that, it uses Discourse Analysis, observing two movements with main senses in the construction of obituaries: those of denial and those of negativization of death. The proposed discussion begins with the conditions of discourse production, seen here as the articulation between the socio-historical context, typical of the current moment, and the production of the project's texts, classified as part of the obituary journalistic genre. The analysis identifies the predominance of a discourse typical of christian discursive formation, working metaphorically on the valorization of life and the promise of existence after death. This concept covers the logic of the necropolitics and of the denial of death, crossed by elements of an ideological formation, whose notion of death is understood as the final failure of the subjects.
