Abstract

This article aims to provide a systematic review with bibliometric analysis of the scientific production about the social network TikTok in the field of tourism, extracted from the Periódicos CAPES Portal based on an exploratory and descriptive research of published articles in academic journals and events yearbooks from 2016 to 2022. The studies unification related to the social network TikTok and its involvement in tourist activity is important due to the current technological situation of society and to present the authors who disseminate data from their research on social networks, which is a trend with impact on the development of tourism. At the international level it is considered an emerging topic, especially from 2020 on and is little researched in Brazil. Among the 51 articles related to the TikTok theme in tourism the marketing was identified as an important area, with approaches based on the perception of potential or real tourist and the destinations management joining this social network to increase visibility and tourism demand. Thus, it was possible to understand the studies diversity, mostly published in 2022, and how their nuance/perspective analysis can contribute to tourism with the use of TikTok.
