Aesthetic education and education for arts in contemporary society

This paper aims to present a discussion about aesthetic education as a fundamental human right. Aesthetic education should include both the development of the physical and spiritual senses, as pointed out by Marx, and the intentional learning of production and enjoyment of works of art and artistic manifestations historically produced by the humankind. The report, which is based on bibliographic research, seeks to demonstrate how the capitalist system shapes the artistic production made available by the cultural industry. At the same time, economic liberalism affects teaching systems, by limiting and harming the aesthetic development of society, especially regarding individuals belonging to the working class.
