Based on a scientometric study, this work aims to describe the scenarios of publications on teacher education (TE) with a focus on educational equity (EE); analyze the theoretical perspectives around the concept of EE and its relationship with TE; and to highlight trends, theoretical-methodological propensities, gaps and future challenges for research on the subject. Despite the scarcity of works that involve EE in chemistry TE, strong relationships were observed between equity, multiculturalism, and diversity. The reviewed literature discusses two dimensions as important guiding principles of EE: cultural competence and socio-political awareness; and consistent teaching-learning practices. These two dimensions are discussed in detail in this article.
