Abstract

The work is fundamental both for the historiography of Rondônia and for national and international history, as it brings important discussions about culture, identity and immigration. Contextualizes the immigration process of immigrants from the English Antilles to the Amazon, using documentary and historical sources, explaining elements of culture and identity, as well as the origins of the Afro-Antillean community and its relevance for the establishment of the city of Porto Velho.
